Here comes the summer…
The sun is out and so too are the camps and fesitvals to go with it.
But what sort of camp or festival will you attend this year? Here’s our short intro to a summer of fun….
The kids have a choice - either a multi-activity summer camp with someone like PGL or Camp Beaumont or a single focused activity such as a play in a week offered by Leatherhead Theatre for budding actors and actresses.
The adults have access to more general audience festivals - such as rock festivals - but the more interesting options are in the specific courses which can develop a skill or teach you a new activity.
Some of these course are weekend dance courses such as the Tango Camp in Bath and Bristol or extended weekend courses such as the Straithes Writing Retreat.
Then there are the one off events - such as Swingin’ the Docks a recreation of the 1940s in Edinburgh as well as ongoing classes such as Salsa in Bristol.
Or perhaps take a free singing, dancing trial at the X Academy?
In addition to all the performance arts, summer is a great time to take part in some of the best sailing events. For a single (but very long day) why not try the Round the Island Race on 20th of June? It is a race - for a few - but a matter of survial (and fun) for most others.
Summer is also the season when the Tall Ships come into town. The Altlantic Challenge is already in full swing - but you might still have time to join for the last few legs of the journey.
