Tall ship sailing

On Sunday 17th May 2009 the tall ship Lord Nelson will be moored in Bristol City Centre alongside the Lloyds TSB Amphitheatre, and will be open for the public to explore.

The Lord Nelson, which is 55m long and weighs in at 370 tonnes, is owned and run by the Jubilee Sailing Trust, a charity whose mission is ‘to promote the integration of people of all physical abilities through the challenge and adventure of sailing tall ships on the open sea’.

The public will be invited on board between 10-12am and 2-4pm where they will be able to get ‘hands on’ aboard a tall ship. This will be a real treat for any sailor interested in history and the art of sailing tall ships.

The Lord Nelson will be a familiar sight to many UK sailors as she makes her way along the coast and through the Solent, and here’s a fantastic opportunity to see her close up.

See the Jubilee Sailing Trust website for more details.
